Ray has also been running kayak tours on the Barrington River for 20 years. He knows the river better than anyone and is involved in landcare and rivercare groups.
Curriculum Based Focus
Our goal is for students to develop an awareness and appreciation of the natural environment through experiential education in our unique location. Fun is an integral part of our experiential process.
Class work is reinforced in a most positive way. Programs have been designed in consultation with teachers and other educationalists to ensure interesting curriculum specific content. Student safety is a priority. A satellite phone is carried in all non mobile areas.
Unique Location
We are based on the banks of the Barrington River, flowing from pristine wilderness. Our program covers a rich diversity in this area – award winning gold mine, diversified farm tour and of course the Barrington Tops World Heritage Wilderness, climbing 1500 metres from rainforests at the base, through eucalypt, arctic beech on to snow gums on the plateau. We often see wallabies, lyre birds, brush turkeys and brumbies on the Tops.
Only 15 mins each to gold mine and farm tour.
In the warmer weather students can swim and play in the small rapids or quiet pools of the Barrington River, 100 metres from the Lodge.
